This requires a trimming strategy wherein the sides of the hedges are pruned at an outward flared angle, so that the top of the hedge is narrower than the bottom. This is done so that the lower branches of the shrubs aren't shaded by the upper branches, therefore receiving just as much sunlight needed to grow and fill in the body of the hedge. |
